New Al Mourjan Business Lounge emanates exclusivity with inspiring design

Adding a further touch of class to Doha’s pride and joy, the sparkling new Hamad International Airport (HIA), is the recently launched Al Mourjan Business Lounge for Qatar Airways’ Premium passengers, which has unveiled a luxury design, complemented by state-of-the-art technology to perfectly satisfy each and every desire.

Mirroring the warmth of Qatari hospitality and underpinned by Italian designer, Antonio Citterio’s high-end, industrial design, the exclusive Al Mourjan Business Lounge promises a haven of privacy and relaxation in a public space. Customers are acquainted with the clean lines and superior contemporary style at the lounge upon entry, where they are further greeted with a five-metre long reception desk made of hammered polished stainless steel.

A similar sense of opulence emanates throughout the lounge, highlighted by the monumental steel and glass staircase. A grand chandelier anchors the centre of the staircase, dipping towards a water feature which creates a mirror image of the chandelier and a sense of immense depth.

Materials used throughout the lounge complement the overall design. Fine treated and chiselled Ferretto Sandstone has been tested in the Al Mourjan Business Lounge for the first time – by a machine specially made for this purpose only.

This special stone treatment is most visible in the prayer room corridor, which is bathed in light from above. Carrara Marble, used for the buffet tables, hails directly from quarries in Italy, while the buffet table in the lounge’s Resort Deli/Bistro was also cut from the same block of stone to guarantee consistency. Teak wood flooring in the open resort area, with rubber inserts, is the same that is used on luxury yachts.

Throughout the lounge, the designers have incorporated various seating options offering the elite a wide variety to select from. The majority have been custom-designed by Antonio Citterio exclusively for Al Mourjan, while furniture by world-renowned designers, including Bouroullec Brothers, Bertoia, Fukasawa and Urquiola, also graces the interiors.

Adding to the exclusivity, respected Italian and European luxury furniture design companies also have a presence within the lounge. These include Vitra, B&B, Cassina, Knoll, Arper, Flos, Fritz Hansen and Unifor.

With technology a vital part of the lounge’s design, setting the scene is lighting technology in the open resort area. This provides natural shade as it projects shadows with changing colour temperatures and intensities together with different shadow patterns on the horizontal surfaces.

With a wide variety of seating options to choose from, including the main lounge area, resort area, family rooms, quiet rooms, the business centre, or in one of the four dining areas offering delectable dishes from Qatar Airways’ premium chefs, passengers can revel in the awe-inspiring surroundings of the Al Mourjan Business Lounge, which promises an incomparable travel experience.
