Six Senses property to grace India’s mesmerising Rajasthan state

Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas will be opening the doors to its spectacular Six Senses Fort Barwara in beautiful Rajasthan, India, in late 2018.

Located in the village of Chauth ka Barwara, the Six Senses gem stands on the site of a 700-year-old historical fort, which was constructed by the Chauhans (Indian Rajput caste).

The property is currently undergoing a restoration process, led by India’s Espire Group, to bring to light its former glory. A team of conservation experts will assist with the preservation and protection of the original fort structure.

Bernhard Bohnenberger, president, Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas, commented on the prolific project: “We are very excited to be working with Espire Group, our partner, on this wonderful project. This is the perfect complement to our resort portfolio which includes highly successful properties in China, Maldives, Oman, Portugal, Seychelles, Thailand and Vietnam.

“Six Senses Fort Barwara marks the second heritage property that Six Senses will manage. Using exquisite aesthetics and creative ingenuity, Six Senses Douro Valley in Portugal offers a fresh design perspective that beautifully showcases its locality. The historic quinta (wine estate) has a rich history dating back to 1464 and we are taking a similar approach with the beautiful Fort Barwara project,” he added.

Six Senses Fort Barwara will be nothing short of magnificent. The property will house 48 beautifully appointed suites, two exquisite restaurants, a bar, a lounge, a jaw-dropping spa and fitness centre spanning 2,800m2, two swimming pools, banquet space, lavish retail boutiques and a fun-filled kids’ club.

The regal landscape of the property will be maintained to the fullest, bringing out the essence of the rich history of the fort with traditional gardens and water displays. Opulent Shekhavati art will also place emphasis on the history of the fort.

The property’s impressive Six Senses Spa, located in the original women’s palace, will offer an extensive Ayurveda programme, meditation and Six Senses Integrated Wellness programmes, including Six Senses Integrated Wellness and Sleep with Six Senses.

Those opting to stay at the property will also benefit from easy access to the Ranthambhore National Park, famous for its tiger population, where Six Senses will offer daily safari drives.
