Jumeirah Al Wathba Desert Resort & Spa: New hospitality jewel in the desert

Jumeirah Al Wathba Desert Resort & Spa celebrated its opening this week, taking Abu Dhabi’s luxury hospitality scene to greater heights.

Sending guests into a serene and tranquil state of mind, the entire property mirrors the design of a historic desert village and comprises verdant courtyards and walkways, as well as water features and pools inspired by the natural falaj (water channel for irrigation).

Oozing quintessential Arabian style, Jumeirah Al Wathba Desert Resort & Spa covers over 22,000m2 of desert. It houses a compelling collection of amenities, including villas with private pools, Arabian-influenced rooms, a 1,000m2 pool and six restaurants and bars, including Al Mabeet, a desert dining experience, which captures the spirit of the past.

Jumeirah Al Wathba Desert Resort & Spa’s spacious pool stretches out into the desert and expands into secluded inlets and coves.

“This is the ideal hideaway for couples and families seeking a tranquil escape,” Axel Jarosch, general manager, Jumeirah Al Wathba Desert Resort & Spa elucidated. “Embedded deep into the breath-taking backdrop of panoramic desert views, the resort offers a welcoming and alluring experience, resulting in a relaxing and invigorating escape. The resort is designed to draw people together yet provide the freedom to be lost.”

Thrilling adventures await travellers at this hospitality jewel, such as fat biking through the dunes, desert treks, falcon shows every evening, archery and destination dining experiences.

Adding to this, the destination Talise Spa offers an almost hypnotic experience, with 13 luxury treatment rooms and private terraces. Rejuvenation journeys include Turkish Hammams, snow caves, hot and cold plunge pools and crystal salt and cryotherapy rooms. There is also a dedicated yoga platform for those looking to find and unleash their desert spirit.

The resort’s culinary offering expertly fuses Arabian flavours and rustic tastes of Italy and the Mediterranean. Romantic poolside dining can be enjoyed at Panache or at the remote desert camp, Al Mabeet, inspired by Bedouin traditions and the legends of Arabia, where sunsets can be seen bedazzling the desert dunes from the rooftop bar.

Guests can discover a hive of gentle activity around the traditional courtyards and intimate spaces around the village square, bordered by the resort’s restaurants and souk. Additional amenities include a kids’ club, conference and meeting facilities.

Just 40 minutes from Abu Dhabi downtown and 90 minutes from Burj Al Arab Jumeirah, Jumeirah Al Wathba Desert Resort & Spa is remote enough to provide escapism, yet is ideal for exploring. Guests can discover the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque; Ferrari World; Yas Island; the Louvre, Sa’adiyat Island; and the garden city, Al Ain, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
