Eco-friendly Jumeirah at Saadiyat Island Resort launches in Abu Dhabi

Eco-consciousness is ever more prevalent in the hospitality industry, and in support of this growing movement, UAE-based Jumeirah Group has launched the ecologically-minded Jumeirah at Saadiyat Island Resort in Abu Dhabi.

The property, a first of its kind in Jumeirah’s portfolio of luxury hotels, overlooks a 400-metre coastline and is surrounded by undisturbed wildlife, including Indo-pacific humpback and bottle nose dolphins, green or hawksbill turtles, dugongs, gazelles, socotra cormorants, grey herons and flamingos.

In line with its eco-conscious ethos, the hotel’s dedicated initiatives go beyond preserving the island's protected sand dunes. Jumeirah has partnered with Dubai-based Trust Your Water to dramatically reduce single-use plastics, while discerning guests are offered locally-sourced filtered still and sparkling water in their own personal reusable bottles.

The resort is home to 293 beautiful rooms, as well as two-, three- and four-bedroom duplex villas with private pools, allowing for incomparable privacy. Other facilities include a number of taste-bud tantalising restaurants, three infinity pools, the Bodyism Wellness Centre and a tranquil 2,700m2 spa.

Linda Griffin, general manager, Jumeirah at Saadiyat Island Resort enthused on the new hotel: “This resort is a place like no other. Located next to one of the most spectacular beaches in the Arabian Gulf, every aspect of the resort's design has been influenced by the beauty of this location.

“Our commitment to protecting the natural sand dunes and sea around this hotel means that we are also continuously trying to minimise the impact that guests have on this environment, by bringing in our own environmentally-friendly solutions and working with partners who are dedicated to employing sustainable, ethical practices in their businesses,” Griffin concluded.
