Chic debut in Austria by Meliá Hotels International

Located in the chic Donau City Tower (DC Tower), an impressive 250m tall, Meliá Hotels International is debuting in Austria in style by opening in the country’s tallest tower.

Expected to open in mid-February, 2014, the chic 253-room hotel, designed by eminent Parisian architect Dominique Perrault, will be adding to a global portfolio of more than 350 city and resort hotels.

The DC Tower’s exterior offers a glazed, clearly structured, minimalistic monolith resembling a geometric waterfall with its façade's breaking edge directed towards the city. The building combines aesthetic architectural design, modern construction and functionality fulfilling the energy and sustainability requirements of a green building, as defined by the European commission.

Set to tantalise the tastebuds of any discerning traveller is the hotel’s 57 Restaurant & Lounge, headed by chef Siegfried Kröpfl, which is to offer Mediterranean and international food, to a stunning view of Vienna.

Located between the fourth and fifteenth floors are 253 state-of-the-art bedrooms offering a stylish, design-led hotel operating under the Meliá brand. Behind the spectacular façade, the interior features make visual reference to the waterfall motif, with geometric shapes present in the bedheads, bathroom walls and stone tiles. The stunning floating spiral staircase in the lobby connects three floors, between The Flow lobby restaurant and the grand ballroom on the first floor.

The hotel boasts approximately 1,080m2 of flexible meeting space, offering natural daylight as well as the newest technology. A ballroom and eight partially combinable meeting rooms create an ideal setting for all kinds of events. At the end of a long day, guests are welcome to relax in the hotel's own gym featuring ultra-modern fitness equipment.

Dorothea Schuster, general manager, Meliá Vienna said: "We want Meliá Vienna to become an exciting point of attraction for both visitors and locals of Vienna, offering unique design, excellent service and a taste of the Mediterranean lifestyle."
