Luxury in Abu Dhabi with Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture

Abu Dhabi, the awe-inspiring capital city of the wondrous United Arab Emirates, buzzing with atmosphere and gleaming with class, has much to offer the affluent adventurer.

Mohammed Al Dhaheri, strategy & policy director, Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi), exclusively recommends the city’s most sought after products.

“Luxury can be found throughout our entire emirate – Abu Dhabi city, Al Ain and our Western Region of Al Gharbia which is rapidly opening up to tourism.

There are world-class resorts throughout, with the Ritz-Carlton Abu Dhabi, Grand Canal, St. Regis Abu Dhabi, Dusit Thani Abu Dhabi and Rosewood Abu Dhabi all having opened their doors in the past year. All offer a sophisticated blend of luxury accommodation. The five-star St. Regis Abu Dhabi, for instance, features dining options that include Rhodes 44 - British celebrity Chef, Gary Rhodes’ first Abu Dhabi restaurant - and the world’s highest suspended presidential suite offering captivating Arabian Gulf views Abu Dhabi’s vibrant Corniche.

Also recently opened are the 88 luxury units at Eastern Mangroves Suites, operated by UAE-based hospitality management company, Jannah Hotels and Resorts. As part of the Eastern Mangroves Complex, the high-end suites – which all offer unobstructed views of lush mangroves - provide a compelling luxury hotel apartment option and are available for short- or long-term lease. The complex also houses a wide range of shops in the Promenade, which features six restaurants, a supermarket, a ladies beauty salon and extensive car park. Guests also have exclusive full use of its 24-hour ‘Karim’ butler service for extensive services.

In Al Ain, there’s the new luxurious Al Falaj resort within the Al Ain Rotana.

Meanwhile, out on Sir Bani Yas Island in our Al Gharbia (Western Region), new luxury beach and bush villa resorts have opened to differentiate the visitor offer on our desert conservation island, providing visitors with an unrivalled wildlife and water sports activity experience in the UAE. Rotana Jet’s direct flights to Sir Bani Yas from Abu Dhabi city and Dubai International also make access easier.

Our luxury retail proposition has also grown with the opening of The Avenue at Etihad Towers and The Galleria on Al Maryah Island and the recently opened World Trade Centre Abu Dhabi right in the heart of Abu Dhabi city – and we look forward to the opening of Yas Mall, which will be Abu Dhabi’s largest mall when it opens in late 2014.

As for other luxurious touches, Abu Dhabi can offer helicopter rides over Abu Dhabi city, seaplane tours, luxury yachts can be hired, we have the up-market Pearl Journey which gives people a glimpse of our past and they take home a pearl or they can go riding in the Arabian Wildlife Park, if they are experienced enough, with horses from the magnificent stables on Sir Bani Yas Island.

Luxury touches can also be found at Yas Marina Circuit where guests can drive the F1 track in the highest of high-end motors.

Our spas are also second-to-none and offer a level of pampering that real high-end destinations now provide. And when it comes to fine dining, Abu Dhabi has it covered  with a choice that’s almost bewildering – a stroll around Yas Marina which has an array of newly-opened restaurants fronting the dancing fountains can transport guests to another world.”
