Ultimate bliss: Mandara Spa at The H Dubai

Wilson Rayan, director of spa and health club, Mandara Spa at The H Dubai grants menaluxury a glimpse into the world of Mandara Spa, sharing spa trends and the facility’s very latest news.

TTG: How do your unique features and experiences set your spa apart in Dubai?

Mandara Spa boasts pristine marble interiors and graceful contemporary Arabian architecture that merge with Mandara Spa’s rich Asian heritage.

Other than the quality of products we use (Elemis, Mandara and Les Sens de Marrakech) we strongly believe the most important factor of a successful spa is well-trained therapists. Mandara Spa has a dedicated training centre in Bali and a team of Balinese trainers that travel the Mandara World teaching their skills and apa treatment concepts and services. With years of experience and knowledge, Mandara Spa has perfected its training methods to produce an unrivalled level of service cultivated from an abundance of expertise, professionalism and skill.

[A total of] 500 hours of intensive and rigorous training to the highest standards is undertaken by each of our hand-picked Balinese therapists at the Mandara Academy in Bali, encompassing practical, theoretical and on the job tuition, before therapists are introduced into the spa environment.

Every year, one month of refresher training is extended to the entire therapist team by a senior Mandara Academy Trainer who travels to the location.

TTG: What trends have you noticed at your spa?

It is important to note that many spa goers like the calm and ascetic discipline of Yoga, and many spas have now started including Yoga as part of their regular wellness programmes.

At Mandara Spa, we recently hosted a week-long experience with master Balinese yoga expert Guru Made Sumantra from Ubud, Bali. He provided highly acclaimed yoga and energy healing sessions to our clients which were a huge success and we will soon include Yoga in our spa packages.

Over the last year we have seen an increase in the number of people interested in couples’ spa packages. Couples visit the spa together and are interested in experiencing their treatments in the same treatment suite as this provides a romantic experience.

Nowadays, spa goers yearn for quality, and we at Mandara Spa use high-quality spa products that are proven to be effective. We are proud to have highly trained therapists catering to our clients’ needs.

TTG: Which sectors do your spa guests come from? Are they typically hotel guests or dedicated visitors?

65 per cent of our guests are from the local market and 35 per cent are hotel guests. Of the 65 per cent, approximately 15 per cent are regular customers who experience Mandara magic regularly. Most of our guests are Arabic and Western.

TTG:  Please share your latest news with our readers.

Mandara Spa at The H Dubai is an award winning Spa. We won the Best Middle East Elemis Body Therapist of the Year Award, and our very own signature ‘Mandara Massage ‘and ‘Pure Nature Facial’ made it to the finals of the Middle East Pool and Spa Awards.

We are also humbled to be a finalist in the World Spa and Wellness Awards, 2016 for the Best Hotel Spa in the Middle East.

[In other news], we are currently running Elemis Bonanza; when clients purchase products, they are entitled to a discount on related treatments. This promotion is valid until December 31, 2016.

Throughout October we are also running a Mandara Revitalizing spa package promotion, [which lasts] for 110 minutes and includes an Aroma Reflex Foot Ritual, a Balinese massage and a traditional Indonesian body scrub.

We are also working on a Spa Meal concept, to be provided complimentary with treatments. This concept is expected to launch by November this year. Healthy meals go well with spa [experiences] and guests spend over three to four hours at Mandara Spa as they also use other spa facilities to de-stress, such as the Jacuzzi, sauna, experiential showers and more.
